Now that the scrumptious time of year from Thanksgiving to New Years is just a memory and a few lingering pounds - It's time to get well! Here are some sure-fire tips to get you started on your way to "a slimmer you"!
Start with an honest evaluation of where you are: get a physical, have your cholesterol checked, step on the scales and have your body fat percentage figured. Use this information to provide insight into where you really are (not just where you think you are!).

Apply a little imagination and creativity to make a plan you can live with that adds life to your years and years to your life! Apply your plan, making small, but consistent improvement everyday and you will quickly be on the road to balanced weight and wellness.

Realistic Goals: Losing 10 pounds by next Saturday is not realistic and your brain both consciously and unconsciously will rebel at the impossibility of the goal. Loosing 10 pounds in a month is much more realistic. Every morning review your goals to keep them fresh in your mind. Picture yourself as you want to be.
Forget the scales: The best measurement of weight loss is how your clothes fit. If they are getting looser then you are obviously loosing inches and pounds. If you must use the scales weigh in weekly.

Reward yourself: When you change a pant's size reward yourself! Be sure to hold off on the reward until you have lost the size otherwise it will lose it's value. Go shopping, purchase that thing you have been wanting, give yourself the privilege of taking time just for yourself - read a book, spend time enjoying your favorite hobby.

Accountability: Surround yourself with successful losers! Enlist your family members to support you and join you in eating well. You will become like those you surround yourself with. Give your accountability partner permission to ask you the hard questions like "How well are you eating? What good food choices are you making? Are your exercising to capacity daily? " Exercise: Begin slowly if you have not been exercising. Walk fast or run a short distance today. Tomorrow push yourself just a bit further. Remember it is not the marathon that matters, but consistent daily improvement. If you loose weight without exercise, you will simply be a smaller version of what you are now.

Make good food choices: It really is true to a degree, that you are what you eat. If you make poor food choices, your health will suffer, and if you make healthy choices you will feel well. In order to feel well you must fuel your system with nutrient rich foods, such as organic lean meats, vegetable, fruits, nuts, and whole grain. Nutrient poor choices are any food containing white flour, sugar (in all forms), artificial sugar, and partially-hydrogenated oils. If you do nothing else but remove these foods from your diet you will loose weight and feel great!

Correct Digestion, Metabolic and Hormonal Imbalances: When the body is out of balance it is very difficult to maintain balance of any kind including weight. The thyroid controls metabolic rate for every cell in the body.
Detoxify: In order to bring the body to wellness and balance including balanced weight the body must be detoxified, so that your organs and systems work efficiently

Deal with the Emotional Issues of Weight Loss: Buried emotional traumas and hurts can sabotage success at every level, including weight loss. Talk to you various practitioners as to how best to cope with this issue. Eat Well, Live Well, Play Well, Rest Well, Think Well, Feel Well & Be Well
